Summary: Having returned from fighting in World War I, James Allen doesn't want to settle into a humdrum life and decides to set off to find his fortune. He travels the length and breadth of America, working as a skilled tradesman in the construction industry. When times get tough however, he finds himself living in a shelter where an acquaintance suggests they go out for a hamburger. What the friend really has in mind is to rob the diner and Allen soon finds himself working on a chain gang with a long jail sentence. Allen manages to escape however and heads to Chicago where over several years he slowly but surely works his way up the ladder to become one of the most respected construction engineers in the city. His past catches up with him and despite protestations from civic leaders and his many friends in Chicago, he finds himself again on the chain gang. Escaping for a second time, he accepts that to survive, he must lead a life of crime.

In order to find a cure, he seeks out the infected beings at night, who seem to have completely forgotten how to act human, their instincts and survival skills have become non-existent, and either takes them out to survive, or in some cases, drags them to his underground lab for research purposes, in hopes of correcting humankind's mistake.

Summary: Sons and daughters of Satan: Let it be known that this is the first and only uncut, authorized release of David Durston's I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. Restored in all its acid-crazed glory, this `70s horror classic is now more gruesome and depraved than ever before--accept no substitutes!
Originally released in February 1971, I DRINK YOUR BLOOD was one of the first motion pictures to be rated X for violence. Aiming to outdo NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, producer Jerry Gross instructed writer/director Durston to discard all of the old monster-mash cliches and shoot straight for the gut with maximum shock value and gore. The result was pure American drive-in genius. Even after 30 years, IDYB still holds up as one of the most entertaining and wildly demented movies of its kind.
Between the bad-taste instincts of exploitation legend Gross (who gave the film its lurid title and distributed it on a double-bill with an cheap black-and-white zombie film he'd rechristened I EAT YOUR SKIN- a.k.a. ZOMBIE, VOODOO BLOODBATH, 1964) and Durston's twisted imagination (rabies, meat pies, LSD, hippie maniacs, construction workers foaming at the mouth--call the Red Cross!), I DRINK YOUR BLOOD plays like a double-barreled shotgun blast, a sugar fix for gore freaks. Just when you think Durston can't push the delirium any further, somebody drags a dead goat across the screen...or an old man in long underwear pukes up his dentures while being strangled...or an electric carving knife strays from a side of ham with disastrous results...or...well, you get the picture.
Unfortunately, the MPAA didn't appreciate the effort. Graphic scenes of bodily dismemberment, multiple stabbings, self-immolation, barbecued rats, gang-bang sex, gut-spilling, decapitation, and the hara-kiri stake impalement of a pregnant woman's stomach all seemed to upset the censors for some strange reason. Ever the exploitationeer, Gross sent the movie out uncut anyway, resulting in pandemonium. With the ratings board cracking down on offenders, Cinemation panicked and prints of the film were hacked to pieces by everyone from projectionists to the local morals squad. The R-rated print seen in most theaters (and on previous, inferior video releases) lacks a crucial plot point and barely makes sense. Despite these trials, I DRINK YOUR BLOOD was a smash success for Gross and even managed to impress a few critics who were unperturbed by the day-glo ad campaign announcing "2 Great Blood-Horrors To Rip Out Your Guts!" The L.A. Times' Kevin Thomas gave I DRINK... a rave, as did then-unknown Joe Dante, who praised it in the pages of FILM BULLETIN. The film even captured a prize at the Avoriaz Fantastic Film Festival in Paris.
Words just can't do this movie justice. Like a sheet of high-grade blotter, this DVD of I DRINK YOUR BLOOD packs enough bizarre entertainment value to last for hours and hours. In closing, we can only repeat the demonic invocation of Horace Bones, who tells his followers in the movie's opening scene: "Satan was an acid-head. Drink from his cup. Pledge yourselves, and together we'll all freak out!"

They strike it rich and Bob sends for Cynthy, who arrives accompanied by her maid and Kane, and Bob meets the arriving party. Kelley also shows up, dragging a hotel clerk who admits to stealing the ring. Kelley is surprised to find Cynthy with Bob and thinks they are married. He is relieved to learn the truth and soon accepts the job of Creede's town Marshal. Cynthy admits to Kelley that she does not love Bob, but she feels responsible for his having killed Jesse. Frank James comes to her hotel suite demanding that Cynthy tell him where Bob is. Kelley disarms him and locks him in jail. Days later, Bob and Soapy and others are celebrating in the hotel bar, awaiting news of the verdict on Frank James. The news of his acquittal and Frank himself arrive simultaneously, and Frank, who holds the upper hand informs Bob of Kelley's and Cynthy's relationship, knowing its effect on Bob would be worse than death.

Comments: Revenge is just the beginning for her...

Summary: Extremely low budget horror flick that could have had potential if it would have been filmed by someone with talent rather than what appears to be a group of young "filmmakers" who have no clue as to what they are doing. Basically, "I Spit on Your Corpse, I Piss on Your Grave" consists of a short series of disgusting sadistic acts perpetrated on three men by a short haired, tattooed, and really, really nasty butch lesbian who concludes her reign of terror by revoltingly masturbating in graphic stomach churning detail (I feel the bile rising into my throat just thinking about it) with full penetration with a broom stick before sodomising the sole surviving man with it.

Not only did "I Spit on Your Corpse.." lack talented actors, but it was in need of better camera angles, a grittier, creepier atmosphere, and less time focusing on one of the lamest looking cemeteries I've ever seen as well as experimentation with their camera's special effects which took up what seemed like half of the movie.

For those that are looking for a movie similar to "I Spit on Your Grave" which was a far superior movie, don't bother with this filth.

Comments: Beautiful Parisian girls were his victims!

Summary: Italian horror godfather Mario Bava almost single-handedly ushered in a whole new genre with this moody mix of murder mystery and kinky horror. The prolific cinematographer made his (uncredited) directorial debut when Riccardo Freda stormed off the set with the picture only half finished, leaving Bava to rewrite the script and complete the picture in two days. It became the first Italian horror film since the silent era and a classic of the genre.
The vampire of the title is not a literal bloodsucker of Dracula's lineage but a mad-scientist twist on the legend of Countess Bathory. In this modern take, the bodies of beautiful young women drained of blood leave the police baffled, while an ambitious journalist traces a chain of clues back to the familial castle of the aging Duchess Du Grand and her beautiful niece (the elegant and sultry Gianna Maria Canale). Set in Paris but shot in Rome, it's a handsome little black-and-white picture that belies its 12-day schedule with gorgeous locations, shadowy lighting, a stylish elegance, and a couple of startlingly effective transformations executed with brilliant simplicity. In later films, such as "Blood and Black Lace" and "Lisa and the Devil", Bava's style would develop into an elaborately choreographed dance of death in black shadows and glowing color, but here he's smooth and suggestive, a model of restraint that looks to his "official" debut, the striking "Black Sunday".
The DVD features a clean, sharp B&W widescreen transfer, with a photo and poster gallery (including stills from the scenes added to the "Americanized" version of the film entitled "The Devil's Commandment") and a collection of Mario Bava trailers among the supplements. Summary: i had this on VHS and finally decided to watch it again after a few years of sitting in a box in my basement. i loved the basic idea. the movie even went so far as to show what happens to a zombie when he tries to pleasure himself with a little jerk action (it would probably be the worst thing out of the entire ordeal).



i didn't have much expectations, but i was somewhat surprised at the acting. i'm not talking about the victims, they were bad. i'm talking about the main character. he actually put on quite a good performance. i was impressed how he accurately portrayed the suffering of a man who is dying but cannot die.



the only problem i really had was the pace was just too damn slow. i understand it takes some time to show the character's suffering, but this movie was bordering on tedium. that is the only reason i had to drop this movie a couple of stars.

Summary: Holiday movies don't get much darker, or more darkly humorous, than "The Ice Harvest", an offbeat comedy that defies expectations. The involvement of director Harold Ramis might lead some to expect a straight-up comedy like "Groundhog Day" or "Analyze This", but despite Ramis's fine and atypically subdued work here, it's the writers (Robert Benton and Richard Russo) who put a stronger stamp on their adaptation of the novel by Scott Phillips. Benton and Russo previously collaborated on "Nobody's Fool" and "Twilight" (with Benton also directing), and those films are similar in tone and spirit to this quirky, modern-day film noir, set on a freezing Christmas Eve in Wichita, Kansas, where mob lawyer Charlie Arglist (John Cusack) has a lot on his mind. He's just stolen $2 million from his boss (Randy Quaid), he can't trust his partner Vic (Billy Bob Thornton), he's secretly in love with the manager (Connie Nielsen) of the strip bar he owns, and his best friend (Oliver Platt, giving yet another terrific performance) is married to his ex-wife. Before the night's over, several murders will complicate matters even further, and throughout it all, "The Ice Harvest" is anchored by Cusack's good-natured presence in a bad-natured story that dares to combine double-crosses and bloodshed with elusive yuletide cheer. It's a strange but oddly appealing combination, not for all tastes but refreshing for that very same reason. "--Jeff Shannon"

Summary: Ok, I'd like to think that I've seen my share of crazy Japanese movies. This one took the cake. Maybe I didn't catch enough of the references, or maybe I wasn't strung out on heroin. Either way, this movie was hard to follow. When your movie's hero is crying AND reassuring a woman that things will be ok, because HE'LL rape her instead of someone else... Well, stretch that scene into an hour and a half and you've got this movie.

One of them travels further into the future and meets a family in a futuristic automobile, implying that that humankind has recovered from the disaster (or have they?)

Comments: The Future Is A No Brainer

Summary: The purpose of the program set up by the Pentagon, called the "Human Hibernation Project," is designed so that the military can save their best men for when they're needed most. According to the officers heading the project, too many times the talents and expensive training of the best pilots and soldiers go to waste during times of peace. So they enlist Bauers (Wilson), the most under-achieving average guy they've got, to be the test subject for the initial hibernation experiment. Also participating in the top-secret program is Rita (Rudolph), a prostitute who agreed to take part in exchange for dropping some criminal charges against her, among other things. Of course, the experiment, which was to last only a year, goes under due to the arrest of Officer Collins, who is busted for heading a prostitution ring. Seeing as though he was in charge of the experiment, one of the only ones who knew of its existence, and "due to a lot of top-secret red tape... and the massive scandals and base closure that followed, Joe and Rita were forgotten about.

Summary: My disappointment isn't in the movie itself, as I was VERY excited to find this film available in the US! I've been wanting a copy since I had the opportunity to watch it a few years back... however, the fact that it is for some reason DUBBED IN CANTONESE just ruins it for me :( It takes out a lot of emotion from the talented cast of Korean actors and actresses in this film. It doesn't even have an option for the original Korean audio track.

... now if you can go find a used rental that has the Korean audio in tact, I TOTALLY recommend this film!

Comments: She Keeps Monsters in Cages for Pets! He Preys on Wild Go-Go Girls!

Summary: Not only is it great to see "Creatures" in such glorious color, but this DVD is packed with really GOOD extras. This is truly one of the more bizarre of all low-budget horror/exploitation flicks of the 60s - and that's saying a lot. It also happens to be among the most fun to watch. Somehow, it's funny, cheesy, incomprehensible and kind of sweet all at the same time. And dig the ladies in those musical numbers!

As for the commentaries by director/star Ray Dennis Steckler and drive-in critic Joe Bob Briggs, I have to say I like 'em both. I do have to disagree with the reviewer who didn't like the Joe Bob commentary. Joe Bob has an amazing depth of knowledge when it comes to movies, and his humor and observations are right on the money. Sure, he points out the inadequacies of "Creatures," but isn't that part of the fun? After all, if you're going to examine a movie like this, how can you NOT mention cheap sets, out-of-step dancers and actors with sky-high pompadours? Joe Bob clearly loves this movie, and his enthusiasm for this sort of cinema is infectious.

If you're even considering buying this DVD, you're probably already familiar with the movie. Rest assured that the extras are a worthy addition...and are just as 'incredibly strange' as you'd hope.

When Yeung was talking with his staff about the event, Lau brought the head to meet Yeung, and played the tape, because it's changed back with Lau's tape, so Lau ashamed himself instead of able to prove that Yeung is the spy. Lau said why are the police people playing him with this. Yeung, spoke like Chan, Sorry Lau, I am a policeman. Lau said that he is also a police, and shot Yeung's heart. Summary: Dario Argento's sequel to "Suspiria", his first and to date only American hit, is an even more incoherent nightmare fantasy. Laden with symbolic imagery and fantastic explosions of death shot in candy-colored hues, it's a bloody feast for the eyes. Mark (Leigh McCloskey), an American music student in Rome, rushes home to New York after a frantic phone call from his sister only to find an empty apartment and obscure clues about a supernatural presence in her spooky building. It all has something to do with the mysterious "Mater Tenebrarum", one of the "Three Mothers" of Argento's murky mythology, and the fun house of an apartment house she inhabits, complete with a fully furnished underwater ballroom, miles of secret tunnels flooded in red and blue light, and hidden passageways under the floorboards. Meanwhile, there's a killer running around stabbing beautiful women for who knows what reason, a crippled bookseller attacked by rats, and a homicidal hot-dog vendor in Central Park. Why? It's best not to ponder such mysteries--Argento obviously isn't as concerned with making sense of his meticulously staged murders as he is with lighting them with just the right hue. Dramatically it's inert, a parade of quirky but faceless victims dispatched with elaborate care, but it's beautifully designed and executed, a spectacle of elaborate set pieces and magnificent decor orchestrated with a complete disdain for narrative logic. Summary: Versatility, thy name is Van Damme! So Arnold cries in "End of Days"? Hah! In this relentless revenge actioner, Jean-Claude not only cries, but has a drunk scene, suffers suicidal despair, does a little slapstick, and still manages to flash his ubiquitous butt. Which, of course, is what his legion of fans want to see him kick plenty of (other people's butts, that is; not his own). Van Damme may no longer generate any box-office heat (like 1998's "Legionnaire", this bypassed theaters to go straight to video), but he at least gives his fans what they want. Originally titled "Coyote Moon", "Desert Heat" recalls that guilty pleasure "Road House", as Eddie Lomax (Van Damme) comes to the rescue of a gallery of colorful characters terrorized by slobbering, drug-dealing bikers and rednecks in a dilapidated desert town. And this time, it's personal. As one denizen ominously observes, "There's trouble on the hoof and it's coming this way" for the three ill-fated bullies who beat up and shot Eddie and left him for dead. Despite its desert setting, "Heat" is an oasis for great character actors who pick up Van Damme's considerable slack. They include Danny Trejo ("Con Air") as Eddie's Native American friend Johnny Sixtoes, Pat Morita ("The Karate Kid"), Larry Drake ("Darkman"), Vincent Schiavelli ("One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Ghost"), Bill Erwin ("Candy Stripe Nurses"), and luscious Jaime Preslly as Dottie the waitress. The director is credited as Danny Mulroon, a pseudonym for John Avildsen, the Academy Award-winning director of "Rocky". His career, too, seems to be on the ropes, but he keeps punching with some welcome eccentric touches. At one point Johnny gives the recuperating Eddie a foot massage (didn't he see "Pulp Fiction"?). And the script offers such goodies as a lovelorn bus driver (Tom's brother, Jim Hanks) inviting Dottie to see "Yojimbo", and one biker's plea for mercy from a local tough: "Jessie, we were in high school together. Summary: The first remake of the paranoid infiltration classic moves the setting for the invasion from a small town to the city of San Fransisco and starts as Matthew Bennell notices that several of his friends are complaining that their close relatives are in some way different. As the invaders increase in number they become more open and Bennell, who has by now witnessed an attempted "replacement" realises that he and his friends must escape or suffer the same fate.
