What did you do on New Years?
Yesterday I was one years old.
One whole year.
Can you believe it?
The things I have seen, the people I have meet, the stories I could tell.
Oh, sometimes even I can't believe it myself.
Sometimes people think that my life is a bed of clover. That am only because I has a bed of clover. I uses it to think deep thought about life and toys and good jokes and great games.
And my crazy brother Jimmy!!
That am him in the hat.
I did not get not hat on my birthday.
I got ice cream! I wouldn't have minded a hat like my brother got but I is happy about just having ice cream.
NO I ISN'T!! I WANT A BIRTHDAY HAT!!
But I did get me a real good birthday present!
I gots salmon!
I gots a bacon cheese biscuit!
I gots 3 kajillion cards!
I gots a peanut butter frosty paws!
I got a vanilla frosty paws!
I got turkey!
And I got a GIANT LOBSTER!
The lobster was gived to me by my brother!
The lobster is very good for practice fighting and it plays beautiful music! Them big claws makes good squeaks. And the big body gows HARONK just like that. HARONK! And when you shakes it it rattles!
A great musician like me can play some beautiful songs on a great lobster like that and practice fighting at the same time!
I wrotes and played David a beautiful song just before the sun comes up.
He didn't like it.
But you know how he is!
All in all I likes my birthday and I think that maybe I'll haves me another one. But next times I want a hat!

Happy Birthday Shelby. Hope you had fun. Jimmy's hat looks very nice on him. Maybe next year David will get you one. Jimmy is looking very handsome these days. Ballou and Laya got extra treats on their birthday but not as good as the ones you got. They got to chew on real big bones and really enjoyed that. I also groomed them up real pretty. Not a spa treatment like you got but they still looked real pretty on their birthday. They too rolled in the wet grass later and lost that pretty look. Hope you had a wonderful birthday. You got lots of cool birthday stuff, too! Glad you like the lobster, I didn't know it made so many different sounds. Is HARONK really loud? I wonder why David wouldn't like you playing him a beautiful song early in the morning. What goes better with sunrise than beautiful music?
That bed of clover looks comfy, I don't have one of those. My yard has plain grass.

Happy Birthday Shelby!
We are so pleased you enjoyed your day, even without the hat – who knew.
Guess what mom got us for your birthday! Guess!! We got a brother! We tried to get mom to name him Shelby but she insists his name is Blue. We don’t like him and since he’s bound to ruin everything we are calling him Kablooie. Actually though, Ben says that with him around, ruining everything, Kablooie fits and we can blame him for every thing. Ben is wise!
Mom promises there is still room enough for us to have a Shelby sister in the future, but that most of the problem is there is only one of you!
We gotta go and get ready for our new brother. Thanks for having a birthday Shel!
